Antique Large Glass Funnel by Whitall Tatum
Antique W.T. Co. Glass Funnel Made by Whitall Tatum Co. in Millville, NJ
Details:: Diameter: 8.5" Height: 10.5"
Condition:: the funnel does have some chipping on the smaller end— see photos. These chips are on the tip and the side of the small end. The funnel is also imprinted/ stamped “W.T. & Co”.
History:: This glass company started using the name "Whitall Tatum & Company" from 1857 to 1901. They changed it to "Whitall Tatum Company" until 1938 when the works were bought by the Armstrong Co. The original site was located in Millville, NJ. Whitall Tatum produced very large quantities of glass products throughout much of the mid- and late 19th century for pharmacies, barbers, perfume companies, and chemical companies. Many of them are now avidly sought by antique collectors. Most items imprinted with "W.T. & Co." generally date from approximately 1875 to around 1901, and are most frequently found in a good-quality clear (colorless) glass.
